The Holy Spirit

It is written in Isaiah 11.1-3:  And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:  But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

The Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the manifestation of the fruits of the Spirit.

John 14:26 - But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 16:12-15 - I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

Isaiah 11:2 - And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Luke 11:13 - If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall [your] heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Acts 1:8 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

A PERSONAL WORD ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

I can only share what I have learned about the Holy Spirit through years of Bible study, prayer and seeking the face of God. The Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost, is the third person of the Holy Trinity: which is made up of The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. God gave us His Only Begotten Son to die for our sins to give us eternal life. The greatest gift the Son of God gave to humanity was the Gift of Himself. JESUS offered Himself to humanity through the Holy Spirit that you and I might have life everlasting life, because He loves us. After JESUS resurrected from the dead and was seated at the right hand of the Father, He sent us the Comforter. The power of the Holy Spirit was the greatest gift He could give to His Church. The Holy Spirit’s mission is to reveal the Father through His Son. The Lord JESUS said: I only do what I see my Father do. The Holy Spirit is HOLY, He is ALIVE, and He is REAL, just like the Father and the SON! Get to KNOW HIM and the supernatural will become your new natural and the impossible will become possible!

JESUS also said: “If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father” and “I and My Father are One.” The Holy Spirit has a mind, a will, and emotions. He gives us joy and He is our Comforter. He is the Breath of God. He has intellect, knowledge, and He makes decisions. He is our teacher and guide. He testifies, convicts and leads. He encourages and strengthens us. He comforts us, helps us and intercedes for us. He reveals Truth and searches the deep things of God. He sanctifies us, bears witness to us and He forbids us.

WARNING: The Holy Spirit can be lied to, resisted, grieved, quenched and blasphemed.

DANGER: Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is “THE UNPARDONABLE SIN."

It is written in Matthew 12.31, 32: Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

I was terrified of the Holy Spirit the first time I read the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5. 1-11:

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? And after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

Then Peter said unto her, how is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the LORD? Behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

I believe it is a healthy thing to have a reverential fear of the Holy Spirit, because He is God. It is written in Matthew 10.28: And fear not them which kill the body but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE BORN AGAIN?

It is written in John 3.1-36:  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him: Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him: Verily, verily, I say unto thee: Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him: How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered: Verily, verily, I say unto thee: Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter in the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee: Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him: How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him: Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee: We speak that we do know and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came and were baptized. For John was not yet cast into prison. Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. And they came unto John, and said unto him: Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him. John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said: I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Beloved, please join me in praying that the church will repent and obey 2 Chronicles 7.14 in humility, fear, and trembling before our Great and Holy God, so it can become the House of Prayer that our Precious LORD died for, and which the world so desperately needs. Amen.

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is written in 1 Corinthians 12.1-12: Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth JESUS accursed: and that no man can say that JESUS is the LORD, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same LORD. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also, is Christ.

It is written in John 4.5-26: Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob’s well was there. JESUS therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: JESUS saith unto her: Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him:  How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. JESUS answered and said unto her: If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? JESUS answered and said unto her: Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. JESUS saith unto her, Go, call thy husband and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. JESUS said unto her: Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he wom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that sadist thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. JESUS saith unto her: Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. JESUS saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am HE.

Do you really want to be born again? All you must do is accept the Gift of Salvation. You can take it now. Do you want to be filled with the Precious Holy Spirit of God? All you must do is ask for it, with your whole heart. Simply desire it more than the air you breathe.
